Reading Intervention

A child may encounter a reading struggle at any point in their life. Reading intervention is a means of supporting the child during this challenging time.

After the initial reading consultation, your student will go through a screening process to identify the area or areas of reading they are struggling with:

  • phonemic awareness

  • phonics

  • fluency

  • high frequency words

  • vocabulary

  • comprehension, both informational and literary

Once deficits are identified, the student and tutor together create the learning goals that guide the path of intervention. Meeting in-person for 60 minutes each week, the student will use multi-sensory reading strategies and receive explicit reading instruction meeting the student “where they are at” and moving them toward their reading goals..

The ideal length of reading intervention is 10 months.

How to get started?

  1. Schedule a reading consultation.

  2. Meet with the tutor for 30 minutes to discuss your child’s reading needs.

  3. Select time and day with tutor after consultation.
